Major Vikram Batra, PVC was born on September 9, 1974 in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. He was an Indian Army soldier who belonged to the 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles of the Indian Army. He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honor, for his exemplary courage and sacrifices in the 1999 Kargil War.
Major Batra joined the Indian Army in December 1996. In 1999, during the Kargil War, he was part of the Indian Army’s Operation Vijay. He was sent to fight against the Pakistani intruders in the Dras sector. He single-handedly captured the highest peak of the Tiger Hill and was successful in recapturing the area.
Major Batra was known for his bravery and courage in battle.

He led an infantry assault on a Pakistani post and destroyed it, despite being under heavy fire. He was shot and killed by the enemy during this mission. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery and selfless service. Major Batra is remembered as a hero of the Kargil War. His courage and selfless service to the nation has been an inspiration to many. He was a role model for the youth of India, and his story is taught in schools and colleges.
